From April snow to April Squirt gun fights

the happy bubbe We had snow just a week ago. It was so beautiful falling softly on the rose bushes hoping to burst out their leaves and hid them tightly tucked away until today. Today it was 80 degrees outside. A recipe for fun soon followed. During the end of summer clearances, we found Artic super soakers for 1.50 a piece! So I bought them all! After our picnic on the porch Chai, Jaden and Bella came inside for the heat of the day, and did some school work; than we broke out the arsenal. Chai and Jaden were on one team, Bella and I on the other. Boy that became perfect teams. Bella at four can sneak and see the boys coming warning Bubbe. But Chai at the ripe old age of "almost" eight has become and expert saboteur! He ambushed me while I was getting Jaden , He ambushed me behind the truck, he sent Jaden one way and there I was open and yelling the words that give Bubbe power....TIME OUT we have to refill! I have discovered that our new home is a battleground masterpiece; the right coverings, the right trees and the right obstacles. We even have the right guns (although Bella changes her mind and her gun often!). Oh once we add in the older girls.....what a summer this will be.

Tirzah is going to Sacramento

the happy bubbe Well the specialist finals set an appt for Tirzah at UC Davis. It is June 15th. Yep Six more weeks of waiting and watching her. She has been less active and that has made a difference. But the sun is shining now and it will be harder to do that. Thank the Lord He is the one we are looking to, because the doctors are just practicing medicine anyway! And the Lord is the one that created her and knows her full well.

Trizah's Ultrasound

the happy bubbe Tirzah had her ultrasound on Monday of her kidneys. She discovered that the technician is a paid professional tickler! The more she moved the wand, the more Tirzah laughed hysterically. The results of the test are her kidneys appear to be working fine. Since a side effect of HSP ca be a transplant, this was good news. But it does lead to questions as to why she is still finding blood in her urine. So the test results are being sent to two specialists and we will continue to pray and wait for their responses.
All things work for good, and in this case, Tirzah's knitting is becoming quite great.
Thank you for your prayers.

Talia goes to Narnia

Even Baby Talia got to go with the kids to Narnia.

The Banquet Hall

Tea for Mr Tumnis and Bubbe, Ice Cream Cake for Queen Zemeira, Queen Kezzi, Queen Tirzah, King Jaden and King Chai, Blood Oranges for Aslan and smiles for all the loyal subjects.

Narnia comes home

Zemeira walked into Narnia for her fourth birthday on Saturday. Winter without Christmas was on one side and Spring because Aslan is On the Move was on the other side. Her birthday wish was probably the snow we had today!

Surprises

the happy bubbe I woke up this morning to surprises. Our first surprise was to see the sun shining. Yes in Sunny California this has become very rare indeed. A bright blue sky with a bright yellow sun glaring in our window. Why was it glaring in our window? Because it was glaring off the inch of freshly fallen snow on the ground. Am I surprised? Yes I am very surprised! I don't know when the last time I saw such a bright blue sky was!

The Easter Bunny

A Bunny StoryOnce upon a time there was a man who was peacefully driving down a windy road. Suddenly, a bunny skipped across the road and the man couldn't stop. He hit the bunny head on. The man quickly jumped out of his car to check the scene. There, lying lifeless in the middle of the road, was the Easter Bunny. The man cried out, "Oh no! I have committed a terrible crime! I have run over the Easter Bunny!" The man started sobbing quite hard and then he heard another car approaching. It was a woman in a red convertible. The woman stopped and asked what the problem was.The man explained, "I have done something horribly sad. I have run over the Easter Bunny. Now there will be no one to deliver eggs on Easter, and it's all my fault." The woman ran back to her car. A moment later, she came back carrying a spray bottle. She ran over to the motionless bunny and sprayed it. The bunny immediately sprang up, ran into the woods, stopped, and waved back at the man and woman. Then it ran another 10 feet, stopped, and waved. It then ran another 10 feet, stopped, and waved again. It did this over and over and over again until the man and the woman could no longer see the bunny. Once out of sight, the man exclaimed, "What is that stuff in that bottle?" The woman replied, "It's harespray. It revitalizes hare and adds permanent wave."

Immigration and a wise President

"In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comeshere in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, heshall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is anoutrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, orbirthplace, or origin But this is predicated upon the person's becomingin every facet an American, and nothing but an American...There can beno divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, butsomething else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but oneflag, the American flag... We have room for but one language here, andthat is the English language... and we have room for but one soleloyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."Theodore Roosevelt 1907

What a Week!!!!

the happy bubbe Oh what a busy week this is going to be! Life Rave has Heatherly and Sam presenting Pilgrims Progress to the teens in our town. Oh I pray it changes their lives and gives them a good mental picture of where they are in the Lord. Today the Grandkids and I have Easter eggs to color since we have to have Easter early due to the kosher-ness of Passover and a little kids NEED for Jelly beans. When Easter and Passover over lap like this, the candy has to come before or after Passover, but not during. Which brings us to Matzah ball soup making and preparations for Passover. I love making Matzah ball soup and I am definitely in the fluffy matzah ball court instead of the heavy ball court! After we do that, we have to create the world of Narnia for a four year old Zemeira's birthday party. She was "Lucy" for two months after the release of the movie. So Narnia will come to life Friday for a Party on Saturday. And a family Seder that evening. Sunrise service will be next and the joy of the Resurrection will fill our day. Yes this is truly quite a week!

My Sleepover with Zemeira

the happy bubbe
Zemeira spent the night with me last night, all by herself! No brothers or sisters, just she and I. It was such a blast! I realized there are things I did with everyone else that I hadn't done with her. We watched Cinderella, the Rogers and Hammerstein version with Brandy and Whoopi Goldberg. Zemeira loves musicals (seven brides for seven brothers is her current favorite). But in the ballroom scene she and I got up and danced around the livingroom. At that moment I realized she and I hadn't done that before. All her life there has been another "kid" to dance with, so she didn't need me for a partner.Zemeira and I have done a lot of things together but it seems there are many things we still have yet to do. She thought she would be big enough to sleep on the couch alone, but wound up on the floor beside me. Mike taught a computer class last night so it was a perfect girl night.
We baked blueberry muffins and after dinner had rootbeer floats! We put her hair up in sponge rollers and after all that girlie tubby time we watched Heidi with Shirley Temple. She was concerned that her hair was too long to have Shirley Temple curls, but she did. She must have had a great night too, because when I went to wake her up this morning, she was laughing out loud in her sleep!!!
I am told she is home now, snoring fast asleep from her sleepover! I guess we wore each other out!

getting up

the happy bubbe
I found this quote today.
"It isn’t how many times you fall that counts, it is getting up each time that matters."
an author wasn't given.

There is a Proverb that is similar Proverbs 24:16 says"For a righteous man may fall seven times And rise again, But the wicked shall fall by calamity. " KJV

The Message put it this way...
"No matter how many times you trip them up, God-loyal people don't stay down long; Soon they're up on their feet, while the wicked end up flat on their faces. "

I feel like I have been falling down a lot lately; fights with family members, arguing over things that are literally of no consequence. I keep finding myself back on my feet, but badly bruised. My goal is to not stay down long and to heal quickly.

Years ago, my favorite song was "Warrior is a child" by Twila Paris. And I am not a child any longer. But I still fall down, I still drop my sword and I still am thankful Jesus is there to hold me and heal my aches and pains.

My biggest struggle now is for those I have hurt that don't have the Lord Jesus to pick them up and heal them.

The New Century version puts Prov 24:16 this way
"Even though good people may be bothered by trouble seven times, they are never defeated, but the wicked are overwhelmed by trouble. "

They are overwhelmed by trouble, they are flat on their faces, and calamity seems to be their middle names. I know the only way they will ever stand erect is with Jesus. Yet they chose to reject His hands, His nail scarred, compassionate hands and remain fallen. Their position is already the perfect position for one that is lost to be in. Prostrate before God is where learning to kneel begins and standing in God's Presence is great joy.

The falling and failing will still happen, but the rising up is so healing. A heart change, not a change in position is all it takes. May my heart always be supple enough to change and yield to Jesus. Here is to getting up, again and again and again.
